Dev, a 46-year-old man from Delhi, faced sexual health problems with early ejaculation and weaker erections. These issues not only affected his sexual health but also impacted his intimate life with his partner, leading to brief and unsatisfying experiences. The strain on their bonding caused significant difficulty and dissatisfaction. Despite a generally good health history, Dev had a past of alcohol consumption. Settling down these problems was important for a healthier, happier relationship. This story details how Dev began his journey toward wellness, with comprehensive care that transformed his life.

Finding the Issue

Dev had been married for 20 years and had three children. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, he began experiencing erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation, typically lasting about one minute. Over the last three months, his condition worsened, with a noticeable decrease in sexual desire as well as erection issues where the erection lacked full rigidity to penetrate. These issues persisted, leading to unsatisfactory sexual encounters due to erection problems and quick ejaculations.

Like many others, Dev faced premature ejaculation, weaker erections, low sexual desire, and performance anxiety. These problems, common at his age, can stem from everyday stress, workloads, societal expectations, and relationship dynamics. His complications also affected his self-esteem and strained his marital life, causing emotional and mental stress.

Due to embarrassment and societal stigma, Dev had never consulted a professional for his sexual issues before. He tried various herbal remedies he found on websites like Google and YouTube, but nothing worked. Realizing he needed professional assistance, he decided to seek help from an expert.

It’s important to note that Dev had been in good health and had never been on any medications. The ongoing issues with premature ejaculation, maintaining an erection, and low sexual desire, as well as mild performance anxiety were frustrating for both Dev and his partner, prompting him to seek professional help.

Seeking Professional Help

Dev upon realized that he needed professional help. On a weekend evening, Dev was scrolling through Facebook reels when he found some videos from Allo Health that were similar to his situation. They caught his attention, so he looked up Allo Health on Google and decided to get an assessment. After the assessment, he booked a walk-in appointment at Allo Health’s  New Delhi, clinic, and over there Dr. Ashish Bansal has been appointed to him.

In September 2023, during his first meeting with Dr. Ashish, he carefully listened to him and found out that Dev was dealing with premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and low sexual desire.

After the meeting, Dev thought back on their discussion. He said, “Dr. Ashish understood my problems. He explained that being anxious or stressed can cause early ejaculation and that it’s important to relax and focus on enjoyment rather than performance. Early ejaculation is not a sign of weakness, it can be helped. A lot of men suffer from this concern and you are not alone He assured me that premature ejaculation and erection issues are common and treatable. Hearing this made me feel hopeful about improving my intimate life.”

Understanding the Root Cause: Identifying and Realizing the Issue

At Allo Health, Dev was being treated by Dr. Ashish to figure out why he had problems with premature ejaculation. Dr. Ashish found that Dev’s issues were mainly due to stress from money problems and relationship troubles. Dev often felt very stressed and had many responsibilities. He also mentioned being betrayed by friends multiple times. He also faced anxiety-like symptoms before especially before sexual activity. He also had a habit of quick masturbation.

Dr. Ashish identified a few key factors affecting Dev’s health: his psychological stress and frequent alcohol consumption. Stress was a major contributing factor, affecting both his mental health and sexual function. Understanding the link between Dev’s stress and his sexual health was essential for Dr. Ashish to develop an effective treatment plan. Recognizing these factors was a vital step for Dev in his journey towards recovery and improving his overall well-being.

There might be a question about whether Dev’s quick masturbation habit contributed to his premature ejaculation. It’s important to know that while compulsive masturbation can sometimes cause sexual problems, it’s not always the case. Masturbation is a normal and healthy part of human sexuality. A combination of psychological and biological factors likely caused Dev’s premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction.

Steps to Treatment

Dev started his journey to cure his premature ejaculation and erection issues with a mix of medicines that include an antidepressant to improve mood and physical symptoms of depression and also relieve symptoms of panic and obsessive disorders, Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) inhibitors that help to manage blood flow in the reproductive organ, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) to treat major depressive disorder by increasing the activity of a chemical called serotonin in the brain, and a nutritional supplement that can help improve strength and stamina in men along with dietary modifications, and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Dev was informed that once he started feeling better, he could gradually stop taking the pills under his doctor’s guidance. He needed to attend regular follow-ups and be precise with his medications.

Dev has also been referred to therapist Nihit Verma for his counseling sessions. During his session with Nihit, Dev pointed out how he feels low all the time regarding his mood and the thought of getting betrayed by friends multiple times in the past affected him.

After careful observation therapist Nihit advised him lifestyle modifications and a few physical activities for his betterment which is also similar to the advice prescribed by Dr. Ashish.

Pelvic Floor Exercises: Performing pelvic floor exercises can strengthen the muscles involved in ejaculation, providing better control over orgasm and potentially delaying ejaculation. Consistent practice can lead to noticeable improvements over time.

Manage Anxiety and Stress: High levels of anxiety or stress can contribute to premature ejaculation. Focusing on relaxation and enjoying the experience can improve control and overall sexual satisfaction. Techniques such as deep breathing and mindfulness can be beneficial.

Long-Lasting Condoms: Using thick or long-lasting condoms can reduce sensation, which may help in delaying ejaculation and prolonging sexual activity. These condoms often contain numbing agents that can further enhance their effectiveness.

Engage in Foreplay: Spending 5-10 minutes on hard foreplay can enhance intimacy and arousal, making the sexual experience more enjoyable and less rushed. This can also increase emotional connection and mutual satisfaction.

Adequate Sleep: Ensuring 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night can improve overall sexual health, including the ability to maintain erections. Quality sleep is crucial for hormone regulation and energy levels.

Communicate with Partner: Discussing sexual concerns with your partner can alleviate performance pressure, reduce stress, and enhance mutual understanding and support. Open communication can lead to finding solutions together and improving intimacy.

Stay Present: Focusing on the present moment and the intimate experience, rather than worrying about performance, can help relax the mind and improve erections. Techniques such as mindfulness and meditation can assist in staying present.

Reduce Alcohol Consumption: Reducing or stopping alcohol consumption can positively impact sexual performance and health, as excessive drinking can lead to erectile issues. Moderation is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Stop Smoking: Based on our examination, quitting smoking is advised as it can significantly improve blood flow and sexual function. Smoking cessation can also have numerous other health benefits.

Balanced Diet: Following a healthy and balanced diet supports overall well-being and can enhance sexual health and performance. Including a variety of nutrients can promote optimal bodily functions.

Physical Activity: Engaging in daily physical activities like walking or running for at least 30 minutes can improve cardiovascular health and stamina, which are beneficial for sexual performance. Regular exercise also boosts mood and reduces stress.

Aerobic Exercise: Incorporating 25-30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily can boost energy levels, reduce stress, and improve overall sexual health.

Dev’s treatment plan combined diet, exercise, specific techniques like Kegels and the start-stop method, medication, and lifestyle changes. This comprehensive approach aimed to not only manage his symptoms right away but also improve his sexual health in the long run.

The Path to Recovery

Dev chose to get his medicines from Allo Health because it was cheaper than other places. He also liked that the medicines were delivered discreetly to his home. To help him remember to take his medications, he received reminders, which are very important for staying on track with long-term treatments.

Allo Health also reminded him to schedule his next appointment and helped solve any problems that might stop him from getting treatment. Since starting with Allo Health in September 2023, six months have passed. Dev has been a diligent patient, finishing his medication and following all the advice from Dr. Ashish. He attended all his follow-up and counseling sessions as recommended. His issue of ejaculating too quickly, which was around 1 minute or less at first, improved significantly to almost 3-4 minutes. Throughout this period, Allo Health kept checking in with him to see how his treatment was going.

Before each doctor’s visit, patients fill out a progress form to help the doctor plan the next steps. In September 2023, Dev had his first appointment with Dr. Ashish, who diagnosed him with premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Dr. Ashish prescribed medication, counseling sessions, and lifestyle changes. By his first follow-up in November 2023, Dev could control his ejaculation better, lasting 4-5 minutes. Dr. Ashish then adjusted his medication and added a topical spray to be used 15 minutes before intercourse, along with the Start and Stop technique.

By his next follow-up in December 2023, Dev’s condition had improved further by following the doctor’s and therapist’s advice, including lifestyle and diet changes. His condition remained stable with consistent improvements. By the final follow-up in February 2024, Dev had fully recovered, with much better control over his ejaculation and greatly improved overall sexual health. He followed his treatment plan carefully and completed it successfully.

Dev’s experience shows that premature ejaculation, erection problems, and performance anxiety can be treated. With the right mix of medication and lifestyle changes, you can see significant improvements. Getting help from professionals, like Dev did, improves your chances of success. However, everyone responds differently to treatment, so results may vary.

Dev’s story shows how important it is to get help for sexual health problems. He improved by getting medical treatment and lifestyle advice, which helped both his physical and mental health. If you’re facing similar issues, remember that asking for help is a brave and crucial step. Dev’s experience proves that sexual health problems are common and can be resolved. Getting help can make a big difference in your life.
