White Dots On Penis Glans And Shaft

I have white dots on the glans and shaft of my penis. About 15 days ago, I noticed one red dot, which went away after applying coconut oil. However, more dots appeared later on. I consulted a doctor who diagnosed it as a fungal infection. After applying Afstera cream, the red dots disappeared, but now there are many white dots present.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a persistent issue involving white and red dots on your penis glans and shaft. Here’s a detailed response to help you understand and manage this condition better.

Based on your description, it appears you initially noticed a red dot which responded to coconut oil.

However, after consulting a doctor and using Afstera cream for a diagnosed fungal infection, you now observe white dots. Here’s what might be happening:

  • Fungal Infections: These are common on the penis and can cause red spots, itching, and discomfort. Antifungal creams like Afstera (which typically contains active ingredients like terbinafine) are effective in treating such infections. It’s good that the red dots have disappeared, indicating the fungal infection is likely under control.
  • Fordyce Spots: The white dots you’re seeing could be Fordyce spots, which are harmless sebaceous glands present in many people. These are not caused by an infection and typically do not require treatment. They can appear more prominent after treating other skin conditions due to increased skin observation and care.
  • Coconut Oil: While coconut oil has antifungal properties, it’s usually a supplementary treatment. Persistent infections often need stronger, prescribed medication.
  • Skin Reaction or Residue: Sometimes, after using medicated creams, the skin might react or leave behind residues that appear as white dots. Ensure you’re cleaning the area gently and thoroughly.

Steps to Take:

  • Continue Treatment: Follow your doctor’s advice and continue using the prescribed antifungal cream. Consistency is key to fully eradicating the infection.
  • Observe and Report: Monitor the white dots. If they change, spread, or cause discomfort, report back to your doctor. It’s important to rule out other conditions like dermatitis or lichen planus.
  • Maintain Hygiene: Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid using multiple products simultaneously unless recommended by your healthcare provider.

Your symptoms might be due to Fordyce spots, which are harmless. Continue with the antifungal treatment and maintain good hygiene. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist.
